When I was 10 years old, my little sister was born, and I instantly fell in love with babies and being a caregiver. After years of being a devoted mother and raising my two sons, who are now grown, I recognized my dream.
After working for 20 years in an office I finally decided it was time to follow my dream. I joined Doula Training Canada to begin studying to be a certified Labour/Birth and Postpartum Doula. On top of that, I took the Douglas College Labour and Birth Course and since then, have helped over 100 families as a Birth and Postpartum Doula.
I work full time as a Birth and Postpartum Doula and am passionate about supporting families during pregnancy, labour, birth and postpartum. My goal is to bring you a calm, anxiety-free birth and early parenting experience. I have expertise in Child Birth Education and Breastfeeding Support.
To support families in all situations, I have specialized experience working with addictions and mental health concerns during pregnancy, birth and postpartum. I have further training as an Infant and Pregnancy Loss Support Worker, and have taken a specific course in working with Trauma Survivors. I have also supported families who have suffered health issues during pregnancy and postpartum.
I am an approved Doula for the British Columbia Aboriginal Association Friendship Centres (BCAAFC) grant so I can provide support to Indigenous families for Birth and/or Postpartum Care.
Before becoming a Doula I worked as a Registered Child and Youth Care Worker and supported families as a respite caregiver for young children with challenges.
I have several certificates that aid me in the support of families including FoodSafe Level 1, First Aid, CPR and Infant CPR.
I am a Mother, a nurturer, a helper and a compassionate caregiver. Being a Doula is my passion and what I was meant to do.
